All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. We seek His guidance, His mercy, and His forgiveness. We send salutations upon the Noble Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his family, and his companions.

INTRODUCTION

Dear brothers and sisters in Islam, we are blessed to witness another Ramadan, the month of mercy, forgiveness, and salvation. It is a time of increased devotion, reflection, and community service. Today, I will speak about the critical role of Muslim women in the home, the community, and among both Muslims and non-Muslims during this sacred month.

Allah has honored women and assigned them vital roles in society. Contrary to some misconceptions, Islam uplifts and empowers women, granting them dignity and responsibilities that shape not only their households but also their communities and the entire Ummah.

1. THE ROLE OF MUSLIM WOMEN AT HOME DURING RAMADAN

“The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those—Allah will have mercy upon them. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.” (Surah At-Tawbah 9:71)
  • Nurturing Piety at Home: Encourages family prayers, dhikr, and Qur’an recitation.
  • Teaching Patience and Gratitude: Leads by example, showing sabr and shukr.
  • Providing a Nurturing Environment: Preparing Suhoor and Iftar as acts of worship.

2. THE ROLE OF MUSLIM WOMEN IN THE COMMUNITY DURING RAMADAN

“And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, [saying], ‘We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.’” (Surah Al-Insan 76:8-9)
  • Supporting the Needy: Organizing food drives and contributing to Zakat and Sadaqah.
  • Educating and Mentoring Young Girls: Teaching Qur’an, Hadith, and Islamic etiquette.
  • Building Strong Sisterhood: Encouraging and supporting other women in faith.

3. THE ROLE OF MUSLIM WOMEN AMONG MUSLIMS AND NON-MUSLIMS DURING RAMADAN

  • Being a Role Model of Good Conduct: Exhibiting patience, kindness, and humility.
  • Promoting Interfaith Understanding: Educating non-Muslims about Ramadan through exemplary behavior.
  • Avoiding Conflict and Engaging in Forgiveness: Practicing good speech and behavior during fasting.
